Hi, I'm Beleszove! I live in the Pacific NW of the US and love gardening, journaling, cooking, swimming in natural bodies of water, crafting herbal remedies, foraging, and making art. I have a beautiful Ginger cat, Lily and just recently lost my dog, Molly who was the love of my life (don't tell the cat who I also love dearly!) and it's been the hardest loss I've ever grieved.
Currently learning how to be better with watercolor. My current favorite mediums are acrylics, collage and neocolor IIs and I usually use them in a mixed media way.
I go through spurts of furious art-making, followed by months of not picking up a paintbrush. I'm hoping that joining swaps will give me an excuse to make art more consistently.
I love good strong coffee but equally good strong black tea (with rice milk). My favorite food is Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas, but I'm currently on a Greek salad kick. I've been making the same quinoa cornbread recipe several times per month for over 30 years tweaking the recipe to make it dairy free, then back to buttermilk, then gluten free; now I add a layer of cheese in the middle and it's to die for.
My favorite kind of music currently is South American Folktronica, but I enjoy a wide variety of genres. Currently I'm watching Modern Love, Amsterdam and think it's interesting to see how people in different countries approach relationships. I just finished reading The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong and loved how he creates beautiful, caring moments in a world filled with devastation.
Other fun facts about me:
* I love all things fabric, especially quilting and have 2 huge tubs of fabric and another one of yarn and another one of wool roving and have a fancy sewing machine, but I don't know how to sew and don't thing I have the patience for it. I go a long with with incorporating fabric into my art with fusible webbing!
I have way more art and craft supplies than can be used in 1 lifetime. I prefer the term, "Possibilitarian" to hoarder!
*I've lived in 3 countries and 5 US states
*I'm hoping to go on a nature journaling retreat to Greece in the fall, with funds from selling a bunch of stuff I no longer need
*I really want to move and to own my own home again. Somewhere peaceful, quiet, beautiful natural setting.
*I live in a big city but there's a pack of wild coyotes who regularly roam my neighborhood. It's weird to hear the roar of cars on the freeway and also howling coyotes
Teas: I am a tea afficionado and enjoy broadening my horizons. I love black, green, Oolong, White and herbal. I like tea blends with spices, fruits or flowers but have an allergic reaction to many added flavorings, even when it says, "all natural".
I like: surprises and enjoy things I would never have thought to pick for myself. That said, I also love non-"cutsey" themes of flowers, crystals, succulents, hummingbirds, all birds, dragonflies, zen themes, trees, animals, non-Christian spiritual but not religious, the unusual, quirky and unexpected and non-stereotypical imagery.
I don't resonate with skulls, gore, Girl Boss/hustle culture, Thomas Kincade style art, anything with AI imagery, patriotic themes
